Sumner Academy Girls Soccer Team Earns Pinnacle Award Honors

The Sumner Academy girls soccer team added another honor to its long list of accomplishments, earning the 2024-25 High School Team Pinnacle Award.
Presented by the United Soccer Coaches Association, the award recognizes teams that have achieved a high level of fair play, educational excellence, and great success on the pitch.
To be considered for the award, teams must earn an Ethics and Sportsmanship Award (Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze), receive a Team Academic Award, and maintain a winning percentage of .750 or higher for the season.
“It means a lot to be recognized on the national level,” shared Sumner Head Girls Soccer Coach Megan Schmidt. “This award recognizes academics, sportsmanship, and success on the field, which shows the team they are being looked at as a team of student-athletes, not just individual talented players.”
During the 2025 season, the Lady Sabres finished the year undefeated with a 16-0 record. Incredibly, they scored an impressive 100 goals while only allowing five to their opponents.
As a result of their dominance, several players received post-season recognition including, First-Team All-State, Second-Team All-State, and Honorable Mention honors.
“We made it our goal last season to set a higher standard for the girls soccer program, and placed emphasis on the importance of our impact on and off the field,” added Schmidt.
The United Soccer Coaches Association was founded in 1941 and is based in Kansas City, Missouri.
The organization has grown into the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization that serves members at every level of the game.
United Soccer Coaches works every day to inspire coaches and ignite their passion for the game, so they pass it on to players and others in the soccer community.
